- Most of
problems are due to FIREWALLS! you must exclude every Firewall (both on SERVER
and CLIENT)
- Be sure that newtork cards are planned with IP Static addresses. It's
important also subnet mask value. Use a value like 255.255.255.0
- If you have used automatic wizard of XP (with bridge) try to make a manual
network connection
- There are no problems with Hub-Switch, different instead for Router. Many of
these have a firewall integrated for which the streaming video and audio could
be jammed. In some cases you succeeds in changing channel on the SERVER without
being able to visualize nothing; in other cases images are broken.
- If the channels are visualized with pixellate or mosaic effect make this test:
open from CLIENT with ProgDVB a MPG2 file recorded on SERVER and play it. If
vision is not fluid problem it is to impute to the network LAN.
- Some ProgDVB versions could have a bug. If you don't recognize problems, try
to use a less recent version.
- In some cases is important operating system. The CLIENT for example, works
very well with XP; if format and install Windows Millenium on the same machine ,
channels could be visualized wrongly.
For Skystar 1 users make sure that in PROPERTY of DEVICE LIST "Bob Mode" is
selected, and that "184 byte packet" is activated.
- If have doubts on system.. try to directly connect the 2 PC with a cross-over
cable
- - For use with wireless network, tries to leave router with DHCP activated,
and when you turn on two pc check IP address given by the router, they should
depart from 192.168.1.100. So for example laptop CLIENT can be 192.168.1.102 and
desktop SERVER with 192.168.1.101. For card leave him normal guide setting.
- For not have "it doesn't change satellite... ", remember to enable option "Ask
confirmation" before moving, in the Diseqc1.9 plugin options on SERVER.
on PC SERVER:

- If on SERVER we insert wrong
IP CLIENT or false, to es. 192.168.0.9 won't see the TV but also the SERVER

- You have no permission to enter on server. Checks it with a ping of IP.
- Verify that on CLIENT, SERVER address is 192.168.0.1 or, clicking on an any
channel, after a second the same will reappear, preventing to change on another
channel.
- Check to have DiseqC equally on both the PC
- If it is possible change sometimes channels, be sure that on both PC in
SETTINGS/AUDIO And VIDEO/DIRECTSHOW the render is switched on "Video RENDER". If
ProgDVB close needs to repeat operation.
- If have problem can resolve inserting in CLIENT the IP assigned to Skystar
card for example 192.168.238.238
- If you set on SERVER in ProgDVB an IP like "192.168.0.255" (wide lan) you
could slow down all the CLIENT of network
- If it is possible to change channel from CLIENT on the SERVER, but on CLIENT
the screen is black, there is probably Firewall on the Client that the stop
video stream. Or could miss the codecs video on the CLIENT. Try to open a MPG2
recorded file and play it.
If don't resolved the problem...
read again from the beginning and
make attention!!!

STREAMING BY MEDIA SERVER
If you want to have no LAN problems bandwith it must be sufficiently free.
In contrary case you verify problems in viewing, jerky video, mosaic
effect in some scenes.
But how bandwidht is used by ProgDVB?
Or, is it possible to use ProgDVB with a 10 Mbits LAN network? and with a 22
Mbits Wireless system?

After 10 minutes of zapping on various channels this is the result express in
mbps
The red line represents the 10 mbps value
Every different vertical line represents 20 second on a channel. Particularly, from
tested channel the highest bitrate results "TV8" followed from "Canale5". The
worse one of the review... Campaniasat (with a resolution of 352x288).
We want remember that an high bitrate not means High Quality (sure with 1,3 mbps
it is not possible to get a clear image).
